Formed in 1967 as the Niagara Civic Ballet Company, the Niagara Civic
Ballet Company became a 501 C3 federal status not-for-profit organization
in 1999-2000 and became known as the Greater Niagara Ballet Company.
The GNBC provides local dancers the unique opportunity to partner with
professional dancers and play their abilities in a theatrical setting.
Over the years the GNBC developed a repertoire of over 21 different
major ballet productions. Performances include Degas, Swan Lake and
Nutcracker, which is in its 18th year. Venues include performance centers
in Canada and the United States.
The GNBC productions are open to all ballet students by audition and, to
date, dancers from sixteen ballet schools in Western N.Y. and Southern Ontario
have participated in the ballet productions. Guest Artists from
internationally known ballet companies have participated in
many of the GNBC ballet performances.
